What I Bought From Missoni for Target, AND What I Plan on Still Buying.

Well, seems as if, I have underestimated how busy the Target stores would be in Lexington for Missoni. I went around 5 in the evening and while they were not busy with people shopping, they were pretty much sold out of EVERYTHING. I was quite upset. I purchased three items, and only one of those items I purchased was on my original list. boo. So, this is what I got:

Missoni for Target® V-Neck Combo Chiffon Sweater - Multicolor Print
Chiffon and Knit Sweater

Women's MISSONI for Target® Zig Zag Pattern Flats - Multicolor
These Awesome Flats.

Missoni for Target® Zig Zag Knee High Socks - OS - Blue/Purple

And a pair of purple and black zig-zag knee-high socks.

NOW. What I WANTED:

The flats- check!
Missoni for Target® Women's Shoulder Bag - Passione
This tote- I am tired of breaking down my Brahmin purse to carry around my books in at school, I need this.

Missoni for Target® V-Neck Cardigan - Multicolor Zigzag Print
This sweater- I can't get over the fact that I don't have this cardigan in my closet right now.

Missoni for Target® Printed Tee - Black/White Zigzag Print
This Tee- Super cute.

Missoni for Target® Space-Dye Knit Cardigan - Gold Zigzag Print
This sweater- sigh.

I think I am more angry about the stupid ebay shoppers who came and just grabbed armfuls of whatever they wanted and are now selling it on ebay for regular Missoni prices. I can be understanding that you need to make money, But I mean come on, leave something for everyone else, and triple the price, really? I'm gonna be mean, and say I hope no one buys it from you. and yes that makes me feel better.
They are restocking their supply tomorrow, so I will hope to venture over there after work to see if there is anything still left, and you better watch out, cause yes, I will push you over.

Missoni for Target

Today, Target opened its doors and website for fashion feens ready to purchase the fabulous creations by Missoni. In my opinion, this is Target's best designer collaboration thus far. So, since I am in class and can't be at fashion week, I am more excited about this since Target is just right down the road.

The family at Missoni designed an entire new collection for Target unlike any collection they have done in the past and it's affordable for people in college like me :) Of course, they still have the signature zig zag pattern and bright colors. They also have a home line as well, totaling a 400 piece collection with clothes and everything. When I saw some of the pieces for the home collection I so wished that I had my own home to decorate with all the Missoni goodies.

As I was trying to collect some pictures of this collection from target.com it seems as if, Missoni for Target has single handedly shut down their server. The website was so busy, that it literally couldn't handle anymore and shut down. (glad I didn't wake up early this morning to shop online) Even though this is unfortunate, if I were part of the Missoni family, a part of me would be jumping for joy knowing that my brand is that popular.
Hopefully soon, the site will be back up and running, but in the meantime I am going to a Target store to shop Missoni and I will post pictures later of all my goodies!

Fashion Week

I would do ANYTHING right now, for someone to quickly invent teleporting and be able to teleport me to fashion week. Being a poor college student is no bueno. HOWEVER, my lovely friend, Lauren found a great way to be able to follow everything thats going on (minus seeing the beutiful garments right before your eyes) online.

http://mashable.com/2011/09/05/how-to-follow-new-york-fashion-wee

This is a quick link that gives the main people to follow and the main happenings of what is going on during fashion week. Mashables is a great website that combines everything that is going on and leaves open for discussion and comments. Pretty much everything you need to know about following fashion week online, is on this link by Lauren Indvik.

If you love everything Fashion, and you are as upset as I am about not being there, then get in on this! Also, you need to have a twitter, if you dont, then your crazy. Even if you don't do the whole "hey friend, follow me and ill follow you back thing" like me, you should still have one for this. Honestly, I just follow for the fashion; with as much information that is put out there on twitter and with twitter-only giveaways, its worth it. So overcome your resistence to social media technology and just get over it and get in on all the great information that is awaiting!

I know I commented on the website, but don't forget that my favorite, Betsey Johnson is live streaming her show on Sept. 12 at 6:00pm on her website, http://www.betseyjohnson.com/home/index.jsp and on her facebook, http://www.facebook.com/#!/xobetseyjohnson  I watched this last time she did it and it was a lot of fun getting to see everything backstage before the show starts.

I will also be retweeting many of the exciting events and the main happenings of fashion week as well as what I like so far and what I don't like, so you can follow me too and tweet me any questions you might have :)

Fashion-Related Pet Peeves: Campus Editions

I am absolutely amazed at the things people will wear to class on a college campus. Maybe it's just because I'm clothing minded and I can't help but look at and analyze some peoples outfits, but I mean come on... Did you look in the mirror this morning?

One of my biggest annoyances is when your bra straps are showing. I always happen to sit behind girls who always seem to have that malfunction. Clean it up girls! If your wearing a strapless, racerback, or any other type of top where you should be concealing those straps, do it! Wear a strapless bra. A little endowed? Get a bra strap clip, I have tons and they work wonders. It just looks a little sloppy when they are hanging out for everyone to see, there is a reason they are called UNDERgarments.

Next, who wears pajamas to class? And I am not just talking about sweatpants and a t-shirt, I am talking about cartoon plastered pajamas. Really? I realize that many times you wake up late for class or you want to sleep in, but look halfway presentable. When you do that you look like you don't care; not just about yourself, but about anything. First impressions say a lot about someone and you can never get that back. Throw on some jeans super fast, and a nice top. Or better yet, lay out your clothes the night before so when you are running late you at least have something better than your spongebob pajamas because I will take a picture of you.

Last pet peeve of the day. High heels. Super cute, not for campus. You can barely walk after 5 minutes. I have yet to see a girl walk all around campus in high heels and not look like their knees are about to collapse under them because they hurt so bad. I have a lot of heels, wedges, platforms, pumps, etc., but I would never dream of wearing them around all day on campus walking up and down hills and to the other side and back. Yes, you will turn heads, but it will be the "wow, she looks uncomfortable, and dumb" head turn. Save them for the club, dinner with girls, or if you wear them to work, but save us the laughter and don't bring them to campus.

Thanks for reading my rants today, hopefully someone gained an inch or two of common sense :)

Wardrobe Essentials: What everyone should have in their closet.

**Sorry, I had to take the picture down because for some reason they wouldn't show up, But hopefull everyone gets the point :) email me with any questions**

Season after season, trend after trend, there is nothing better than having those basic, timeless essentials you can go back to and wear as is, or spruce them up!
There is always a variation on what everyone thinks should be in everyone’s wardrobe but we will discuss the top 5 that are pretty universal and universally, you need to have.

LITTLE BLACK DRESS AND THE BLACK TUX
First, lets start with that little black dress for the ladies and the black tux or suit for men.  These are so basic and timeless and there is no reason you shouldn’t have them.  Ladies, no matter the budget, you can always find a great little black dress that will look great on you and that you can go back to time after time.  There are so many different styles and silhouettes of the black dress your options are endless.  Make sure that the dress is great quality; finding a dress for 20 bucks is great, but sometimes you have to wonder, why is it 20 bucks? So, always make sure it is a great dress that will last you a long time. Fellas, a tux or suit might be a little more expensive than that little black dress, but every once in a while you can find a great steal.  This is important to have especially if you attend many business parties or dinners and don’t have the time to shop or don’t like to shop.  Oh, and one more thing, make best friends with a tailor. They will be able to make that suit off the rack look like the designer made it just for you.

 WHITE SHIRTS
Next on the list for men and women is a white shirt; both a t-shirt and a dress shirt.  A crisp white dress shirt goes with anything from a skirt to jeans, to dress pants and shorts.  It is a great basic to have and always easy to throw on if you are in a hurry and need to look your best.  Now, a t-shirt, yes a plain cotton or polyester t-shirt for men and women is needed.  This is something great to act as a creative base to your wardrobe.  You can throw a blazer or sweater over it, or for the ladies you can wear it alone and pile tons of chunky necklaces on.  These are definitely two essentials to have to look effortlessly stylish.

                                                                    BLAZERS

A blazer is the next essential that should be in your wardrobe.  For men and women you can wear and blazer with anything these days: dress pants, shorts, jeans, skirts, and dresses.  Black is a basic color that goes with everything, so I recommend that as well as another neutral such as beige or grey to switch it up a bit. Also, why not add a little color? I have a great neon pink and orange blazer that I pair with my denim all the time.  It something different and you will stand out and be sure to keep the compliments rolling in.

                                                                   DRESS PANT
Dress pants are something you can wear from the office to a night out and even to church on Sunday.  Black is a must have because again, they go with everything, but I also recommend another color of your choice whether it be brown or white, navy or cream, they all will match something in your wardrobe and always look timeless.

 LONG COATS
Last, but not least, a long coat. For men and women both this is something that will always look fabulous over whatever you have on.  And some people will only see the outer part anyway, so if your style is not so much up to par one day, throw that on, tie it up and your already looking fabulous!

Also, one last tip for always looking fabulous and thrown together in a hurry in a pair of great sunglasses.  For men, I love the Ray Ban style or aviators.  For women, anything that flatters your face shape is great the bigger you can handle the better!

Savvy Reincarnation

Summer so far in Kentucky has been HOT HOT HOT and HUMID! So, when the humidity is present it is nice to find something to occupy my time creatively. So my current projects are reviving an old dress, an old pair of booties and a few shirts! As I complete I'll post pictures today I completed my dress.

The dress started as a plain fuschia dress and I added feather detail and jewels around the neckline as well as a jeweled ribbon belt that I tacked on in a few places.
I can't wait to put my hair up in a bun put on some black patent pumps and go out for a night on the town with this great reincarnated dress.  AND there's so many jewels I don't even have to worry about jewelry. :)
This was one of the most exciting and fun projects that I have done and I am so excited to created some more goodies for myself and post them on here to get everyone's opinion!
Feel free to leave comments good or bad.

Their Questions, My Answers.

As I continue on my assignments for the London College of Style, I am going to share one I just completed.  They have asked me a series of questions to do with different styles of clothing on different body types and I had to come up with the best answer, so these are also some tips to learn when it comes to your body type.

Their Questions:

1. Why does the platform shoe suit most female body shapes?
2. Name a type of trouser that suits very few body shapes
3. Name a type of trouser that suits all female body shapes
4. What female shape does not suit a skirt cut on the bias?
5. What is an empire line and which shapes do they suit and why
6. Describe the look of a ‘drop waisted dress’ and tell us why it will not suit a
pear shaped woman
7. Will a trench coat look good on all?
8. Name a top that flatters an apple but does not look good on an hourglass and
why
9. Which body shape does a fitted t-shirt best flatter?
10. Will a cap sleeve suit all body shapes?  If not, why?
11. Name three necklines that do not suit a pear shaped woman
12. Name one neckline that suits all body shapes
13. Name one neckline that does not suit an hourglass figure

My answers:
1. It adds height and with the extra platform at the bottom, it can help widen where necessary and balance the leg and hip out for a proportionate shape.

2. Pleated front pants, because they can break up the leg and make them look wider so it is not ideal for pear shapes, apples, or hourglass which all have wider hips, so it will essentially make the hip look even wider.

3.  Cropped trouser or cropped jeans

4. Pear shaped; because of the larger bottom, the bias cut lines will widen the bottom half even more, and the fact that it tapers towards the bottom as well will not help either.

5.  An empire line is usually fitted at the bust and then flares out right below. It fits mostly all shapes, but be careful with the top heavy shapes because it could potentially draw to much attention to the large bust line and create disproportion. So, it will depend on the type of neckline there is to go with it.

6.  The look of a drop waisted dress is essentially just a dress where the line hits more at the hips rather than the waist, so it makes the torso look longer.  It would not suit a pear shaped woman because the horizontal line of where it stops will stop on her larger hips accentuating them and making them appear even larger so they should opt for a higher waisted dress to define the waist.

7.  Yes, it can help define the waist for a slim, hourglass, and top heavy, and conceal the hips of a pear by just grazing over them and disguising the tummy of an apple.

8.  Peplum top, because for an apple shape the peplum will help widen the hips to make it more balanced with the tummy and breasts, but for an hourglass it will accentuate the hips too much and could make her look like a pear shape.

9.  It best suits a slender/athletic body shape, because if the shirt was too big and baggy it might swamp them, but if it is too tight then it will show the lack of waist and no definition. So, A perfect fitted t-shirt is the best choice to show off her body.

10.  No. For an hourglass shape you want some type of embellishment on the shoulders to keep that perfect shape even with the hips.  For a pear shape, you also want some detail or structure on the shoulders to help balance out the hips.  For a top-heavy shape, it might be too tight and bring out the top heaviness even more.  As for an apple shape, it depends, they are blessed with small arms so there is not problem there, but everyone’s apple shape is different and will depend on your client.

11.  Mandarin, strapless, and plunge are all types that will not suit a pear shape because they all do nothing for the breasts and shoulders which need to be widened a bit to balance with the bottom half.

12.  A sweetheart neckline will suit all body types to help enhance or flatter the bust for all types, and it is a wider neckline so it will not make anything appear smaller for pears, slim, and hourglass, so they can keep in proportion.

13.  Vest narrow.  It will make her look disproportioned to her hips.

I hope you all enjoy and if there are any questions just ask!

Fashion Styling Tips

As you all know, my ultimate dream is to become a stylist, so I had enrolled myself in The London College of Style program, and I am coming along quite nicely if I do say so myself :) Today, (and for the next couple of months) I just wanted to share a few things that I have been studying hard on, and felt everyone from men to women would find essential!
Shapes+of+woman.png

This is all about body shapes with a few things I have come up with to highlight with your wardrobe and to steer clear from! Its brief but to the point! SO choose your shape and become knowledgeable with what will rock your body!

WOMEN
Slim/Athletic- Slim with small breasts, small hips, and a square silhouette, and they can wear just about anything.  If you are blessed with this type of body there should not be anything the stylist is trying to disguise. On the other hand, you should enhance things such as the breast area and hips to give the illusion of some curves.  Most any type of clothing will flatter the slim body type but a few things to maybe avoid will be vertical stripes; because they will diminish any curves that we are trying to enhance, clingy tops, because they will show little of no waist, and also avoid wearing baggy tops because she might get lost in it and she will loose her shape and maybe look sloppy.  Types of clothing that would look good on this body type would be: ruffled tops to enhance the look of breasts to create curves, any top or pant that will come up to the waist and define the look of curves, and also for bottoms; a skinny fit pant will help create the look of a fuller body curve as well as tulip-like skirts.

Top Heavy- This body type has large breasts with small hips. A stylist will try to disguise the top half of the body to create balance and proportion with the lower half.  They will try to enhance the lower part of the body and bring attention to that area for balance.  Types of clothing that do not flatter this body type are: shirts or dresses that are too tight around the breasts or ruffled tops because they will make the top half look even bigger and create a very disproportioned look to their body. Skinny or slim fit jeans are also a bad choice for this body type because they will draw attention up to the bust. Also, do not choose spaghetti style straps for tops or dresses as they will also make the silhouette disproportioned. Some clothing that does flatter this body type are: V neck or low scooped tops or dresses that can lengthen the neckline, A-line skirts and flared pants will best flatter the bottom half to help create a balanced and proportioned silhouette. Also for any of the clothing, a darker color on top will minimize the bust and a lighter color on bottom will enhance the bottom half creating balance between the two.

Pear Shape- This silhouette is bottom heavy with a small bust. The stylist will try to disguise the bottom half (hips and thighs) and enhance the breasts to make them look fuller and to better proportion the body as one.  Stylists will also try to enhance the shoulders to make them more even with the hips.  Clothing that would not flatter this body type would be: skinny jeans, because they will make the hips and thighs look even larger, jackets that stop at the hip line because they will increase the width of the hips even more, and also, a top with a skinny V neckline because it can cause the shoulders to narrow bring the attention to the large hips.  Types of clothing a pear shaped woman should wear would be: any top or dress with structured of embellished shoulders to create attention and detail upwards and away from the heavy bottom, pants that flare or are one width all the way down to create an even line or silhouette from hips down, also, any shirts with ruffles or any sort of detail to bring the eye upwards and detract the eye from the hips.

Hourglass- This is the shape that many women long for. The hourglass shape has even proportions from top to bottom with a fuller bust, a defined waist and fuller, curvy hips that are even with the top half.  This body type is similar to the slim body type in the sense that the stylist should not be disguising much of anything and letting her show off her beautiful curves.  The stylist should try to enhance the woman’s curves by choosing body con clothing that fits her perfectly to show them off. Some clothing that would not flatter this body type would be: loose, flowing clothing because they can disfigure and hide their curvy figure, high waisted styles because they will shorten the waist even more, and also don’t choose any type of boxy styles because they will also hide curves.  Some clothing styles that will show off the beautiful curves will be: Any type of top or dress that is belted to show off the defined waist that will highlight the rest of her curves, body con dresses are also a great choice because they will flow with her natural curves and show everything is just the right light, also if you choose anything with lines or pattern, make sure they are curved lines to flow with her soft and curvy body shape to enhance it.

Apple- This body shape has large breasts, large tummy, and skinny legs. A stylists should focus on disguising the large tummy and diminishing the breasts a little to create a more proportions shape.  They will try to enhance the bottom half and make it look fuller to make it even and more balanced with the top half.  Clothing to avoid with an apple shaped body would be: skinny pants as they will highlight the slender leg too much and give attention to the large tummy and breasts, any detail such as ruffles, pleats, embellishments around the tummy area, because they will just attract attention to that area and add inches to make them even larger, and also avoid skin tight tops and dresses that will cling to the large tummy making it look bigger.  Clothing that would best suit the apple shaped woman would be: flowing tops, especially tunic tops that will float over the tummy, wide-legged pants will help create balance for the slim legs, and also with any of the clothing choose a darker color on top and a lighter color on bottom to give the illusion of a better proportioned body.  Chunkier heals such as wedges can also help balance the leg out with the top half.

MEN
Athletic- This body type seems to be the perfect shape to wear just about anything.  For stylist the most concerning thing to focus on would be his color palette and personality, because just like the woman slim body shape the male can also wear just about anything and it will look great on him.  There is not much of anything to disguise on this man with his very in shape and easy to work with body. So, the stylist should try to enhance what he thinks are his best features.  Some types of clothing that might not look good on him would be: baggy clothing because it will swamp his body and not show off his great figure, also avoid clothing that it too tight or short for the risk of disproportioning his body.  As stated before, just about any clothing style  would look good on him, just make sure you are getting his color palette right as well as his personality to create his perfect look for any occasion.

Tall- This man can also wear just about anything as well; he already gets attention for his height, it’s the stylist job to enhance the attention with great fitting clothing.  Some clothing that a stylist should not choose would be: thin vertical stripes because they will just get lost in his height and not create any sort of effect for him, and also loose baggy clothing will not do anything for this frame besides make him look tall and sloppy so steer clear of that as well. Some clothing that would flatter the tall mans shape would be: Thick, chalky stripes to create more of an effect for him and also wont get lost in this height, single-breasted jackets and coats will make your tall man look more sleek and put together, and also, for shirts and jackets it is VERY important that the length of everything hits at the right point to ensure that it does not look too small on him or even cheap. So, make sure the sleeves, and are just the perfect length.  Make sure when choosing colors, you break the colors up instead of just one color head-to-toe to and even more inches to his height.

Short- A short man can essentially be easy to work with as long as you know all of the tips and tricks to lengthen his body.  A stylist will mostly just try to disguise how short he is be enhancing all of his other great features and adding the right wardrobe to lengthen his body.  A few clothing choices that would not flatter the short man would be: horizontal stripes on any part of the body will instantly take away inches which is not what he wants, breaking up color in the outfit will also take away inches from his height, also avoid wide legged pants as they will do the same thing.  Some choices that will lengthen his body will be thin, vertical stripes, and wearing one color head-to-toe.  Fitted pants will also help add to his height.  Make sure that his shirts, jackets and pants are the perfect length because if they are too long he will look like he is drowning in them and will also make his look shorter.  When dealing with a shorter man make sure you have a good tailor as well that you can recommend to ensure the perfect fit every time.

Heavy- This man is difficult to dress for a stylist as you do not want to make him appear larger than he really is.  You need to make sure the clothing fits everywhere; if it helps disguise his tummy, many times you will run into the problem of it being too big in the shoulders and that is not acceptable. SO, for a heavier set man, a tailor will also be your best friend, if you can find something that will disguise the problem areas of your heavy man, stick with it, and alter everything else as you go to fit perfect. A stylist will try to enhance any other great features he has such as a handsome face or even a great personality by dressing him in what suits just that.  Some clothing types that will not look good on a heavy man will be: anything with vertical stripes as they will instantly widen his figure even more, light colors as they will also enhance the larger frame, and also avoid patterned fabrics as they will attract unwanted attention to the larger body.  The styles to avoid are much like those of the shorter man, as the goal is to lengthen the body.  So, choose things like thin vertical stripes, one color head-to-toe, and make sure everything is a perfect fit.  Utilizing a tailor can make the world of difference to a heavier man, as they can ensure the perfect fit.  The most important thing over all is to make sure that your man feels good about himself, if he doesn’t you need to work with him and try as many different options as possible to get him to feeling great about himself.

Thin- Working with a thin man can be easy to work with depending on how they view their body; for example, if they are a model or not.  But, normally a stylist would try to add weight to someone with a thin frame to add some substance and shape to his body.  Some things to avoid in clothing when working with a thin body type would be: vertical stripes because they will make him look even thinner with an even smaller frame, also, don’t choose anything too baggy because it will swallow him and make him look shapeless and possibly even smaller, and also on the opposite, avoid clothing that is too tight as well because that can also make him look even thinner than he is.  The best clothing style choices will be: horizontal stripes because they will add weight and substance to his body, anything will lots of detail in shirts or pants that will add bulk, and also choose different, lighter colors with his outfits to break it up and make him appear a little wider and thicker.

Meeting the One and Only...

BETSEY JOHNSON.

The benefits of living in good ole' Kentucky on May 5, 2011 were very sunny as I got to meet Betsey Johnson! She was hosting a benefit for breast cancer awareness and research among the many Kentucky Derby festivities she also participated in. The amazing experience of being able to meet a favorite designer is indescribable. We had a special "VIP Meet & Greet" time with her where we got to talk to her for a few seconds and get our picture with her! She is an undeniably warm-hearted person, and so bubbly and fun to be around.
Betsey Johnson was the perfect person to hold this benefit, she herself has had breast cancer (as she calls it, a funny story), and she knows first hand how to deal with it and what these women go through.  She is so supportive of women and to fighting for a cause.

We were given the professional pictures from Chambord and she signed it :)

Last picture of the day!
I think the pictures and the signing were amazing, but I would have to say the BEST part of the day was before the even even started.  We arrived early to be able to stand in line and decided to go to the restroom first. Well, when we walked out of the restroom, Betsey Johnson is just sitting there on the couch by herself, just hanging out.  Naturally, we freak out and go up to her and ask for a picture and everything, and she stands up and gives us hugs like we have known each other forever! She was just the sweetest person and I am so grateful to have these opportunities in my life to be able to meet people like her.

Amazing Grace

How sweet the sound.
I just got this tattoo the other day and I thought I would share it with you guys and share the story about it :-)
Her name is Lydia Grace Wu, and she is the strongest little 10-year-old girl I have ever met. Little Lydia was diagnosed with a brain tumor BUT she never let that ever get her down. No matter how much pain she was in, she never complained, never got angry, never blamed anyone for anything. She was so strong and believed everything was for the good. She had the most amazing faith in God and knew whether she lived or passed it was Gods will and everything was going to be okay. Little Lydia passed away at only 10 years old, but she had the maturity and understanding of life of someone who had lived for 80 years. Amazing Grace was her favorite song and that is the story behind this new tattoo. She will live on forever in my heart and touching the lives of those who knew her and will come to know her through the stories. Even though she is not on earth anymore she is in a better place, pain free with her Savior in Heaven.

Where Dreams Come True.

As I am enjoying this fabulous, magical weather in Disney World, I couldn't resist sharing this picture. :-)
If there is anything that is literally ALWAYS in style and always makes you look fabulous when its in the background, its Cinderella's castle in Disney World!
It is gorgeous all hours of the day and especially at night when they change its colors.
Every girl's dream is to be a princess, right? I have been called princess more times in the past few days than I ever have and it makes you feel like a kid all over again.
I might be thinking ahead of myself right now BUT, as a place that always makes dreams come true, my dream come true is to one day be wed there in that castle. (Hey I can dream right?)
But now that I've expressed my dreams to everyone it is time to go back to the castle for the night in Magic Kindom and ride some more magical rides :-)

Benefits of Being a Loyal Subscriber

So, I know this isn't a very good picture, but give me a break I am blogging from work! This is going to be short one just to let everyone know if you read Harper's Bazaar the lovely benefit of being a subscriber is that you get awesome covers like this one. As you can read on the inside, Harper's Bazaar started doing separate covers in 2004. The newsstand version has cover lines and the subscriber version is a little more artsy and creative, or conceptual as they call it.
The newsstand version of this one is with Kim Kardashian and this one has model Magdalena Frackowiak. I personally love this one. It is just so much more interesting and creative, and different, and I feel like these days with all the possibilities of celebrities that can be plastered on the covers, this was a nice refreshing change.
Just a little side note blog for the day since I haven't updated in forever :-) also not to mention, if your a subscriber, its cheaper.

Have a fabulous and stylish day loves!

.....The Runway Part

.....The Runway Part
.....The Runway Part by sarinamichelle on Polyvore.com
This should look familiar :)
With me talking about how much those tulips looked like recent runway collections, I had to compile a few of my favorites. Some are RTW Spring 2011, some Resort Spring 2011, some are for this upcoming Fall 2011, and some are 'just in' items from some of my favorite stores :)
I know this post can be a little overwhelming with all the many different colors, however, I wanted to show the sheer resemblance of those tulips in my last post to what is happening now in fashion. Anything is possible for inspirations!
(If you look closely, some of the designs on the outfits, look like the birds eye views of the tulips)

Tulips in the Netherlands to the Runway

Wow. I just love my dear grandma.  Now, I know this post isn't directly about fashion, but just hold on. My grandma sent these pictures to me in an email today and I can not get over how gorgeous they are. These are all different colored tulips in the Netherlands, some birds eye view as well.

When I first looked at the pictures it was hard to believe that they colors were that vibrant, but they are just gorgeous.
Now, fashion note: do these colors not look super familiar? Maybe, perhaps all the neons and bright, bold, and beautiful colors that were just on the runway last week?  I've seen more of these colors on the runways the past two weeks than I ever have (besides in a box of crayons). Maybe the Netherlands were a little inspiration, no? And now I need something in each of these colors in my wardrobe ASAP.

I had to share these beautiful pictures with everyone, I hope you enjoy :)

Spring is Just Around the Corner

Spring is Just Around the Corner
Spring is Just Around the Corner by sarinamichelle featuring bezel jewelry

I am so excited for this warm weather that I can't stop buying cute things to make it come faster! I bought the dress and sunglasses today and I am working towards saving for the shoes and watch! I wish I would have found this dress before Valentines day because that would have been the perfect outfit :) BUT I didn't so...... It is still perfect for spring and summer weather and just wanting to look cute. I thought that the nude and gold theme worked well with the colors in the dress. The dress has a retro silhouette feel to it so that is also why I chose the retro sunglasses to go with it. the bag is a nice contrast to the nudes and gold, but stills stays in a similar color palette. Everything is from ASOS.com

Lady Gaga on Grammys, HIV/AIDS

Inner Spring Child

As I am so terribly upset that I have not been able to update this recently, I will lighten my mood with one of my favorite outfits for up and coming spring.
This tiered shirt is so precious, and when I wear  it, it definitely brings out the little girl in me :)  this is the perfect outfit to bring spring out. Here in Kentucky, it is starting to warm up a little bit, and I am getting so ecstatic to bring out all of my light, flowy, and bright clothes.  This outfit looks great on warm skin tones and those who are working on their spring tan.  I like the sleeves to cover up my arms a bit for the breezy days.  Pair these with a strappy flat sandal or even a pair of nude wedges and you have got yourself the perfect spring outfit and mood lightener!
This is the jewelry I have paired with the outfit.  Going along with my pink theme, I added some pink bangles.  A big floral bangle as well as a smaller pink bangle, goes perfect with this outfit and adds a little pop of darker color to change it up draw the eye to different points of your outfit.  Also, I added a bow necklace for another girly touch that I think accents the outfit really well.  It is chunky enough to add a bit of 'oomph' to the outfit but still girly for the bow!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post!

Wedding Bells

Here comes the bride....
Just kidding I am not getting married anytime soon, but I found myself looking through Marchesa bridal, and amoung others this dress caught my eye and would be one I could dream about walking down the isle in.
It is gorgeous. And there is not much else to say about it. I love how flowy it is, yet has a touch of fitted feel to it.
I would, however have to change the detailed belt to gold because, well, that's just more ME and it is MY wedding day. :-)
I could not imagine wearing anything other than Marchesa on my blessed day, and this could be the dress, but seeing that I am not getting married anytime soon I know Marchesa will have plenty of gorgeous gowns for me to choose from and I can not wait to see all my options when my lucky day comes!
And there you have it! My mid-day blog post and thoughts!

Sunny Smiles :)

In about one month I will be out of Kentucky and in sunny Florida, and I couldn't be any more excited! I've been getting some of the plans together today and that started my inspiration for todays post! That, and the fact that it is blizzard-ing outside. I hate winter.

This maxi style dress is perfect for the beach. The light and airy fabric is ideal for strolling on the beach or just sitting around, enjoying the view. Maxi dresses are great for just about any body type. The top on this is great at showing off the décolletage area.  If needed, it is also great and hiding a few things with its length and also the light fabric. These types of dresses can be worn anytime anywhere, and there is just about any style/color/pattern to make it appropriate for anything!
I got this dress recently, during below freezing temperatures in hopes that warm weather would be coming soon. As it turns out, it kinda just makes me mad that I am not in Florida yet, and that it keeps snowing here. However, I still love my dress and I can not wait to wear it on Vacation in the warm weather!

These dresses look great without any jewelry, but I though I would add just a little something! Either way, if you do decide to add jewelry, keep it a longer chain, like this owl one!

Maxi Style dresses have a little Greek influence to them, and so do these earrings, so I added these! Like I said, this dress would be just as beautiful without any jewelry. As another little side tip: to keep it simple, choose one piece of jewelry (necklace or earrings, or an arm of a few bangles). I know, I know, the picture has both, but hey, do as I say, not as I do. :)
Also pair the dress with a pair of cute wedges and your all set for a day at the beach!

Girls Day!

I styled this outfit with a girls day out in mind! It's casual, flirty, and perfect for lunch, shopping, strolling around, or dinner with the girls!
Having a pair of dark wash jeans should be a staple in your wardrobe. You can do so many things with a nice pair of dark jeans.  For this outfit, like I said it would be ideal for many things, but I had in mind a girls day out. Pairing a longer blazer with jeans is a more casual look as opposed to a shorter, more cropped and tailored blazer.  Here is my polka dot shirt again! It is a little more tame in this outfit than the party one in my previous post. However, it works either way, and is perfect for this outfit! To finish it off I accessorized with an arm of cream and gold bangles and a gold chain necklace (as shown below).

Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2011

So, I have no idea where to even start with this collection. The jackets, the dresses, and the SHOES! ah.

Okay so let's start with this dress:

Again, where do I start? This gown is gorgeous and the slimming floor-length silhouette will go fabulous with every body type.  The gold detail beautifully cinches the waist, as looks just as beautiful around the neck as well. It's not a good idea to get me started on the feathers at the waist, (Lord even knows how much I love feathers) but they are a great change of texture added to the gown. Alexander McQueen knew the female body very well and how to accent it. Sarah Burton did a great job expressing herself as well giving an amazing representation of McQueen himself; I know he would be very happy with this collection

Okay, I'm going to dream for 2.5 seconds and say that this jacket would be the first thing I would buy from this collection. Now, back to my college girl reality. (hey, a girl can dream right?)

This jacket is gorgeous, and would go with just about anything! Burton chose a neutral palette with a lot of navy in it, which is a good staple color to have in your wardrobe. The major lapels on this jacket that almost go down to her thighs, elongate the body especially with the contrasting vertical white stripe. The belt is cinching the waist, which is always a good idea to accentuate your body and those curves! The detail at the shoulders really adds to the military inspiration Burton is going for. This jacket is just beautiful, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone with the price budget!

And... for the shoes! I do not have much to say about these shoes because well... I mean look at them! They speak for themselves right? In the past couple of years, Alexander McQueen has created some of these crazy fabulous shoes most famously for Lady Gaga. Burton has chosen to continue this type of design. However, these heel-less shoes look a bit easier to walk in than the ones made for Gaga. The orange pair I love for the full coverage of the foot, yet a little peep-toe, and of course the bow it makes in the back :)  I would love to have a pair of these for a day and try to walk in them. (again, a girl can dream right?)

That is my post for the day! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing about it. I know I only have three pictures on here, but please do not hesitate to look through the entire collection, it is beautiful!

Happy Styling!

Drumrolllll please! My first styling post :)
(Click the right arrow on the bottom right corner of the picture to see the different outfits!)
As I previously stated in my welcome post, I want to one day be a stylist.  I love styling people and making them feel good about themselves and their appearance, and I want this blog to reflect my passion for styling and aesthetics.

The first picture is a good business casual outfit (they are shorts instead of pants because I am impatiently awaiting spring/summer weather). This is my favorite blazer.  I can pair it with something dressy as well as something casual.  I actually wore this blazer recently to a job interview, and not only did they love it, but they also hired me on the spot! :)
I paired this blazer with a clean white t-shirt, and charcoal satin dress shorts. I love the lines in the blazer because they work with any body type.  The straight vertical lines will instantly slim your upper half by drawing the eye up and down instead of across. The solid short balances the blazer out and tones it down a bit, and also gives the blazer its chance to be the shining star. I do not currently have a picture (I left them at home) of shoes that I paired with this, but a simple bootie with whatever size heel you can handle woks perfectly with this outfit.
If you want a little more color in this outfit, opt for a bright red shoe, or red t-shirt instead of white for a more nautical theme.

The second picture is an outfit I recently wore out for a night on the town! I called it artsy party.  I am in love with my sequin shorts and while I do not go out very often I try to make an excuse to wear as much as I want, and if nothing else they make for a great conversation starter!
The flow-y polka dot blouse is great for going out for its loose fit, and easy movement.  This top would work best on smaller frames, with also a smaller bust because it does attract so much attention with the pattern as well as the black/white contrasting colors. Tucking the blouse in, as I did, allows for it to be a little closer to the body and form fitting (which is also customizable to your taste and style).
I just feel like the shorts speak for themselves. I have them here by themselves, which is more of a warmer weather look; but, they can also be paired with tights underneath them for a warmer feel. However you want to wear them, they are fab and every girl needs a pair of these in her wardrobe to brighten up her wardrobe and ever her life! I know they make me a little happier each time I put them on.

The last photo is of the shoes that I paired with my artsy party outfit.  These black faux snakeskin patterned gladiator heels are perfect for the warmer weather.  As the other option with the tights underneath the shorts, an over-the-knee black platform wedge boot is perfect for winter weather!

That is the conclusion of my very first styling post. I hope you all enjoy and find it very useful and customizable to your taste! Thank you for reading :)
